Lionel Tran was born in 1970. He is a French sculptor.
Even though a graphic designer, he has always had a genuine interest in sculpture and a passion for shaping steel sheets. Lionel Tran went through a precise training in lopping and vaporizing steel with a plasma torch, then assembling the pieces through electric arc welding. He uses oxidation and painting to obtain a particular patina.
The artist is still a child at heart and draws inspiration from this, to create poetic and dream-like works. He uses the shipwreck theme as a way to explore human evolution.
