Claire Lancien

Born in 1989 in Mont-Saint-Aignan (76), Claire Lancien lives between Paris and Haute-Normandie. Although she attended the Ateliers de Sèvres for a few months, she was above all self-taught.

In 2018, she obtained a workspace in the Atelier Libre at 59 rue de Rivoli in Paris and began painting after having mainly worked with graphite. She says she seeks to obtain a rendering closest to automatic drawing and therefore never does a preparatory sketch. "The line must be brutal and the framing tight so that these anguished figures who challenge us force us to see them as they are".

Contiguously, Claire Lancien shows a preference for oil painting. She mainly works on faces from a palette of primary colors mainly, in a desire to approach new techniques, and because this material has, according to her, a more carnal dimension and not fixed. In these non-figurative faces, his choice is that of the expressiveness of these portraits. As with her work with graphite, she does not do any preparatory sketches.

Since autumn 2018, Claire Lancien's work has been exhibited for 2 quarters at the Art et Déchirure museum near Rouen and in parallel for 3 months at the MADmusée in Liège. In 2018, the Arts Sans Exclusion dating fund acquired two graphite drawings. Claire Lancien is supported by the EgArt association. Claire, has just been selected to exhibit at the 17th Festival Arts et tear in the city of Rouen in November 2019.
