Presentation

Self-taught, it all started in 1996 with the tag, then painting and sculpture. Having no training, he does not lock himself in a field, on the contrary he creates according to his desires.

The years and their ordeals have allowed Jérémy to explore these different techniques and art forms that he has found his way to stand out in each of the areas that he reveals to the public.

Paint is the painter's material, wood, vinyl records and steel are those of the sculptor. Painter, sculptor, tagger, graphic artist, Jérémy Kus born in 1982 dares to fulfill his desires.

In 1996, after having observed the tags and graffiti of Paris and its suburbs during his childhood, he could only devote himself to them. For 7 years, he tagged in turn. Then he starts graffiti, a continuity of the tag. From then on, the fusion with the painting takes place. In search of evolution, he seeks a personal style. “To surprise the public” he said! Playing with colors is his passion, it allows him to exhibit in various cultural places since 2006. This leads him to meet Marko93 with whom he decorates the Place Sainte Marthe in the 10th arrondissement of Paris for the fashion show of the stylist Sadio Bee. The meeting with the public offers him the possibility of listening to the criticism: "the most interesting is sometimes that which turns out to be negative for the artist, because constructed it imposes a point of view different from the majority of the public".

In 2012, his work takes a new turn, as for many artists the death of a loved one accentuates the need to create without limit. It is the loss of his father that wins him in a new artistic corridor. It begins with a series of direct-drawn canvases titled “In my head” which suggests joy, sadness, emotion, tears all in a funky, illustrative, fantastic and expressive style. Thirsty for discovery, he tries his hand at painting with a knife, through which his works are both abstract and figurative. The audience that follows him no longer needs to see his signature to recognize him because this style is very personal to him.

His canvases quickly became walls that he began to paint again in the middle of the rue de Paris 10ème on the edge of the Saint Martin canal. After 14 exhibitions since 2006, in 2013 he dares again. This time, he presents a woodcarving project as part of the Young Talents Trophy in his home town and home, Gennevilliers. He came out as the winner in front of a jury who in turn dared to trust him when he had only presented a simple sculpture essay. The exhibition of his project surprised more than one (public, friends, organizing committee, jury), then orders from individuals and companies followed. For the realization of his project Jérémy had no other choice than to

work in a larger workshop, which led him to work in two artistic residencies in the Parisian alternative environment (at the Bloc located in the 19th arrondissement of

Paris then at the Pavillon des Artistes in Saint-Denis). In 2015, they opened up to other types of artistic achievement and met the vinyl record - many paint it, few do anything with it. I am part of this minority, I will create sculptures with this prestigious material. The latter turn out to be voluminous and imposing. Having decided to leave the alternative environment, he finds himself working at home so he favors painting. This is also the period in which he decides to register for contemporary art fairs. In July 2016, he rediscovered the joys and freedom of the workshop, so the woodcarving that he so missed resumed.

The year 2018 is marked by the realization of a desire that has been close to his heart for several years: to divert welding for artistic purposes. Indeed, following his experience as a welder in the construction industry, ideas for sculptures in steel and other ferrous materials are maturing in his head. It was not until 15 years later that he started making these sculptures. Steel turns out to be a material that is both raw and imposing, but with which it plays to give it a certain transparency and lightness. Kus offers contemporary work, the originality and diversity of his works suggest that he has not finished daring to fulfill his desires. "
