Martine d'Olivo is a self-taught artist, born in 1956 in Avignon. She worked in the Ministry of Finance for a long time and felt the need to get away and have fun, she responded to this need through painting.
She now lives and works in Aubagne.
Martine d'Olivo paints as if she was in an urgent situation, as if time flew by, as of the near future wasn't sure. She uses painting as a means to exorcize her fears, materialize her anxieties, her questions and lack of understanding. Events from her own life are portrayed in her paintings, through unknown characters but also familiar ones.
The artist mixes colors, mistreats forms in order to create characters filled with emotions. Crimson is well present in her work, as it allows her to depict a warm and gentle atmosphere, highlighting sensitivity of her characters.
Martine d'Olivo reminds us that art is like a therapy, a remedy for doubts and uneasiness.
