Léon Barotte (1866-1933) Pupil of Henri Zuber, Albert Larteau and Edmond Petitjean, he began his career as a decorator then, on the advice of Eugène Corbin devoted himself to painting. He exhibited at the Salons de Nancy and Remiremont until 1913 and, from 1912, at the Salon of French artists of which he became a member.
He also presented landscapes at the Salon des Indépendants between 1926 and 1930. In 1936 a retrospective of his works took place at the Thiébault gallery in Nancy. A place in Rosières-aux-Salines was named in his honor.
