Jacqueline Carcagno

Jacqueline Carcagno Weyman is a native of France, and more precisely, of Provence. She grew up in Avignon where she eventually studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts.

However deep her European roots, she has, from very early on, been deeply influenced by Asian art in general, and Zen painting in particular. These influences often commingle with her impressionist eye, fine tuned at the Leo Marchutz School in Aix-en-Provence, where she studied from 1984 through 1989. Ever since, she has moved with facility between working from nature and working from imagination. She believes that a work of art is not an imitation of nature, but like nature, it has its own interior life.

Between the years 1989 and 2003 she and family lived in southwestern France near the Pyrenees Mountains. She exhibited her work in several galleries in the region, as well as in Paris and Giverny. For many years she exhibited in the U.S. with the Vermilion Gallery in Atlanta. Nevertheless, her main focus during this period was on her work.

In 2003 Cargagno and family moved from France to Costa Rica. There in the central valley, near San Jose, she established an art gallery/restaurant. Costa Rica was an adventure, but Savannah is now home. What Carcagno brings to her art is a variety of  visions, a European flare and a touch of Asia. She also is co-founder at Daedalus gallery.
