His real name Jean-Yves Maulin, JYM was born in Nancy (Meurthe & Moselle) in 1968. He is a painter and photographer.
As a teenager, he was influenced by the Cold wave movement, punk rock and industrial music, as well as by photographers Anton Corbijn, Peter Lindbergh, Helmut Newton.
Self-taught, he began to work in a photo lab, which allowed him to gain experience in shooting while specializing in portraits.
Through his painting and his photographs, we find intense and feverish gazes through which each person's identities emerge: a delicate mixture of violently soft and wildly tender of what is hidden in us.
From the first face-to-face, it is an introspection to consciousness. The eyes let guess the personality and the character of the subjects.
His paintings have evolved between his beginnings and today. But we can find the same constant there: acrylic, color, material, portrait, emotion.
