Manuel's photographs are not mere images; they are meditative experiences, where reality and the unseen world blend into moments suspended in time.
Alexandre Manuel was born in 1979 in the Franche-Comté region, at the border of Switzerland and France, and currently lives in Portugal.
With a doctorate in Visual Semiotics (specialized in printed photography) and with the title of auxiliary professor of the universities obtained by the French Ministry, Alexander chose to consecrate his life to photography.
In a refined style, the works of Alexandre Manuel question the status and limits of the landscape. With long exposure techniques, natural registers highlight the tension between absence and presence, between man and his place in nature, between the natural evolution of the landscape and its permanence in our lives.Â
Perspectives, long exposures, and adequate atmospheric conditions allow us to create spaces that are almost pure, serene, and peaceful, in which the setting lets our imagination float beyond the horizon.
“I try to create a continuous scene that is untouched by time and only framed by traces of human contact in structures, rocks, and maritime locations.“ reveals Alexandre.
