Biography

Born in the west of Russia, where Europe meets Asia, Larissa Mayorova is now established in France. However, the artist has lost nothing of the Russian soul that keeps vibrating in her work as in her youth icons and frescoes.

Having completed a full apprenticeship in art, from decoration to scenography, not forgetting the restoration of artworks, Larissa Mayorova has also passed on her love for art as a teacher of Fine Arts in the Urals.

Wishing to mark the stand of time on her canvas, Larissa Mayorova mixes varnish techniques and cracks: a signature that adds to the mystery of her works. Having studied Russian folk art, the artist lends her characters a certain naivety that is reminiscent of Constantin Korovine or Marc Chagall's poetic figures. From the Russian avant-garde movement, Larissa Mayorova retains a strong treatment of color. The artist oscillates between soft grey and brown hues representing her childhood birch forests and scenes that seem to be escaped from storybooks and ancient fairy tales. Bright shades give some paintings a festive pop art spirit while she revisits the iconic symbols of global popular cultures.

Nourished by various influences, Larissa Mayorova's paintings embody the work of an "artist of the world", a distinction for which she received an award in Cannes during the International Exhibition of the French Riviera. Awarded numerous prizes, Larissa Mayorova has exhibited in France and abroad in renowned galleries and art salons during collective and personal retrospectives (Russia, Austria, France, Switzerland). Her work is sought after by international collectors and passionate amateurs.
