Stéphanie Perrot, amused aestheticism Under geometrically erroneous perspective effects that assume a certain correspondence with children's drawings, Stéphanie Perrot asserts her pictorial approach close to naive art: "I want to find a simple, almost childish look, without nuance: a line, a circle, a frank and raw color. "There is a naive delicacy in her works, always pleasant. Stephanie paints portraits with exaggerated squinting eyes, still lifes, feathered animals and resized buildings. It's a small world where the joyful and the absurd are distractedly mixed, supported by a particularly fiery palette. The use of bright colors, often in flat tints, is present on all levels of the composition, without attenuation in the background. An equal attention to detail is given to the details, including those of the background which do not fade to the eye. The perspective is forgotten, only the presence of the expression of the figure and the scene counts. Everything contributes to disturbing the dimensions, multiplying their fictional potential on purpose. In this happy imbalance, different levels of narrative collide. The narrative occupies a dominant place in his work. "I paint like I write a book. I don't touch a brush until the picture is completely defined in my head, even if I sometimes add a few improvised touches. I can sometimes take several weeks to build the story of the painting. "The argument allows itself to be reappropriated by the unconscious. It questions its almost magical capacity of projection. It is a door of access towards the mystery, towards a not enclosed strangeness. The artist generally works with acrylic on canvas but can also use watercolor or pastel on other supports such as plywood, paper and featherboard... So many supports that give free rein to the expression of movement. Stephanie is also a dancer. "I want to find the sensation of basic movement in all my means of expression. "She paints evolving beings, coming from variations of the formless. Their distorted lines seem to take on a momentum to unfold always in a choreographed way. The composition is envisaged in mutation. The figures evolve and mark in spite of everything their humanity in an often urban territory. The city revisited by an amused aestheticism is for Stéphanie Perrot an opening of perspective, an attempt of escape in an imperfect but so rejoicing world where everything remains possible. "I express all my questions about the urban world: the bewilderment, the incoherence but also the extravagance and freedom. "
