Décadrée interview of Laure Carré by Galerie Gaïa

“There is nothing eponymous in the forms that Laure Carré offers us in her work on canvas, not even in her collages-drawings. Ostensibly ! Thus the energy circulates quickly and amplifies the movements while bending but stops short. So square there is not for the form but for its requirement vis-à-vis its canvas.

This is not the first paradox in this luminous artist who imposes troubled subjects where loneliness is accompanied by a double of self which sometimes is not. Dreams and ghosts are invited to participate in the present without any erasure. Laure Carré is solar because she lets herself be done by her gesture and therefore she does not resist, there is no struggle between her and her canvas but the states in which she leaves her characters lead us to take care of them. Laure Carré entrusts them to us, on condition that we take care of them. Impossible to leave these characters alone in these situations and given the choice of colors, even if Laure defends herself from any story to tell us, we are going to have to talk about it, because everything is upside down. So if we think of Bazelitz , if an era the hands of Egon Schiele were needed, we are currently in a period of great creative freedom where Laure borrows respectfully from her icons of painting.

And so goes this life "it's true and why not!" », Nothing upsets her Laure when we look at her work, her studio - because she works all the time - it is for us, for those who like to look at her, for those who discover her and are surprised. In front of so many canvases, one should not act, but let oneself go and walk towards one of them. This is how I end up with a selection that I cannot show all at once. So a second hanging halfway through, the exhibition within the exhibition, we put the gallery upside down to finish at the Carré Madame Laure “
