Biography

Born of an Italian mother and a Swiss father of Zurich origin, she spent her childhood and youth in Paris where her father, a classical painter, introduced her to painting. She completed this training by attending the Grande Chaumière, in parallel with her studies. In 1940, she moved to Cagnes-sur-Mer1 where she met many artists including Bram Van Velde, the Renoir family, Jean Villeri and Marie Raymond. She then discovered the unlimited possibilities of abstract painting. Wanda Davanzo left in 1947 for Argentina where she remained until her return to France in 1964.
