Anke Wiemer

Anke Wiemer is an artist based in Hüttenberg bei Gießen (Germany).

Born in the Upper Black Forest, I felt drawn to nature as a child and experienced every single detail with my deep sensitivity. These experiences could be captured particularly well with painting and drawing.

After a detour, I ended up in art by studying art and religious education and practicing a variety of techniques with the students. However, I didn't get into painting until 1998, when I started studying Kandinsky and Matisse. With the discovery of these unbelievable colors, a real land of milk and honey opened up for me, so that my own work began.

First in abstraction, learned autodidactically. From 2016, pop art inspired me to paint portraits, which initially became my trademark with bright colors and flying hair.

The lockdown in 2020 showed me the beauty of local nature, like a revival of what I had previously experienced, and this is how the first landscape paintings were created, which have mainly determined my art since then.
