Angelo Volpe

Graduated in 1995 in Applied Art in Graphic Design and Photography, he completed his studies in 2000 with a painting diploma, which he obtained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples.

Between 2000 and 2007, he collaborated as an assistant with international artists such as Sol LeWitt, David Tremlett and Thomas Hirshhorn.

And in 2011 he participated in the 54th international art exhibition at the “Venice Biennale”.

Angelo Volpe's artistic works focus on the analysis of a world which, through different types of media, is both producer and transmitter of a plurality of symbols and images. His poetry is expressed through different mediums but his favorite medium is painting. Its language is based on an eclectic and versatile aesthetic. It is a visual universe where patterns and codes are deliberately combined, such as video game graphics, cartoons, digital images, trademarks and company logos. All its models are retrieved from the various commercial media present in our current world.

Angelo Volpe has a unique artistic language which is characterized by a brilliant and enlightened pictorial chromaticism. Her works reflect non-places, where personal and social images of the 21st century collide and emerge on the surface of the canvas. The codes, spaces, forms and structures of mnemonic substrates that he uses depict with irony and sarcasm the whirlwind of modern life and the compulsive feeling of ownership, characteristic of the “consumer civilization”.
