Silvano Bozzolini is an Italian abstract painter, Born in 1911 in Fiesole, Tuscany and died in Paris in 1998.
He studied at the School of Fine Arts of Florence, He studied early Tuscan painters. In 1945, Silvano Bozzolini worked in Florence where he wrote articles for the "Posizioni" newspaper. He defended a new art movement and joined the group "Arte d'Oggi" where he started working on his abstract collection. In 1940, he had to move due to the war, and he permanently settled in Paris in 1947.
In Paris, the artist met figures of the time such as: Victor Vasarely, Jean Dewasne, Emile Gilioli, Jean Dewasne. His encounter with Jean Arp, in 1948, was the beginning of a collaboration between the two artist, since Silvano Buzzolini illustrated his engravings with poems just as Sonia Delaunay, Jean Deyrolle and Alberto Magnelli. The artist became part, as well, of the group "Espace". His paintings have a Post-Cubist vision.
Having a particular tendency towards Painting, Silvano Bozzolini, explores different art fields such as: engraving on wood, illustration and collage..... His compositions oscillate between abstraction and a geometric tendency, leaning towards a recurrent use of curves. His dynamic and colorful shades are not devoid of sensuality and sobriety.
During the 50s, the artist participated in numerous French collective exhibitions (Salon de Mai, Salon des Réalités Nouvelles, Salon Comparisons) as well as in international exhibtions: He exhibted his work in New York, Milan, Pittsburg, just to name some. In parallel, he did a solo exhibition in Sofia (Bulgaria 1934) and then at the La Hune Library, in 1951 (exhibition of engravings). His work is recurrently exhibited in galleries and museums on some of the major art scènes: Milan, Brussels, Paris, Tokyo etc. The museums include his work in their collections ( Museum of Modern art of New York, Museum of San Paulo, Museum of Liège, and Museum of the City of Paris) The artists works as well on large public commissions (frescoes and mosaics).
