A renowned Japanese artist, she is part of an aesthetic movement deeply rooted in tradition while exploring contemporary abstraction.
Masako Jin, born in 1957 in Nara, Japan, trained under master sculptor Kanō Enryu, a member of the Homura sculpture workshop, from 2011 to 2015. Her apprenticeship with this master allowed her to perfect her multidimensional approach to forms and materials. In 2013, she founded the Yamate pottery workshop, where she developed her own artistic language. Her work, at the crossroads of sculpture and painting, has distinguished itself through numerous exhibitions in Japan and internationally, where it combines modernity and tradition, without ever straying from its meditative essence.
The artist has been selected several times for prestigious exhibitions such as the Japanese Contemporary Art Exhibition at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum (11 selections between 2012 and 2024) or the Nitten exhibition at the National Art Center in Roppongi (6 selections since 2013). Involved in the artistic and cultural cause, she is a member of the Japanese Association of Contemporary Art and Crafts, that of Contemporary Art Artists and Architects (AACA) and the non-profit organization "Fuji Club".
With an unrivaled mastery of gold, silver and burnt wood, she unveils creations where light dances with shadow, where the brilliance of metals combines with the raw depth of wood worked by fire. Each piece is an encounter between brilliance and darkness, between the ephemeral and the timeless, a visual experience filled with emotion.
