Sakura Ohba

Sakura was born and now residing in Saitama Prefecture in 1991. She graduated from Musashino Art University, oil painting department. She was always interested in the idea of existence (identity) and all worldly things that are passing. For several years after graduating from school, she was creating not  only paintings but also was doing live painting perfomances that you create in real time with dance and acting.  Currently she mainly paints landscapes in oil. 

"For me, the painting is a memory and a record. Everything that can be perceived is a fact, but it is a subjective event in the same time. And the existence is uncertain, but even if the existence of me is uncertain, I can confirm it if I see the work in front of me. I feel that I can shape my existence by re-experiencing and "appreciating" things that cannot be visualized, such as emotions and thoughts. 

Sharing and discussing subjectivity with others through the work can also be a task of reaffirming my existence. I know others through my existence, and I find the significance of production in knowing me by knowing others. At the same time as I love the flowing days, by incorporating the moment (temporary) into the work, I scoop out all the five senses including emotions and smells and the space where they existed from oblivion and connect them."
