Akemi Takada was born on March 31, 1955 in Tokyo.

She is a Japanese anime character illustrator and designer, in business since the 1970s.

She studied at the University of Fine Arts Tama1 and worked in 1977 for Tatsunoko Pro, which she left in the early 1980s to work on the anime Urusei Yatsura, based on the eponymous manga by Rumiko Takahashi. Now a freelance designer with her own studio, she was also a member of the Headgear group from 1987 to 1994, where she worked on the Patlabor saga. She also has a jewelry store called Diakosmos. She occasionally works for books, magazines and video games.

She has notably worked on Orange Road, Lamu, Maison Ikkoku (from episode 26) and many others as a character designer.
