Rodo Padilla

Rodo Padilla, a Mexican artist, is a renowned sculptor specializing in the field of high-temperature ceramics, depicting cheerful and colorful characters that he nicknames Los Gorditos.

His work, both playful and expressive, captures the emotions, character and feelings of Mexicans and the culture of the country. But beyond that, he will draw from each of us the memories of childhood, its wonder and its capacity for joy in every moment.

Despite his international training, Padilla values the ancestral artisanal techniques of his country. He mixes various Mexican clays and uses traditional methods such as hand-forged casting.

His widely rewarded work has earned him five first places at the National Ceramics Prize and the Sculpture Prize at the New York Art Expo.

Committed to children's rights, he has created ceramic and bronze sculptures illustrating their fundamental rights, exhibited at the Trompo Mágico Museum in Guadalajara. Now president of the National Ceramics Award, he continues to promote Mexican art and identity through his works.
