Biography

Jan van den Brink (1939-2020) studied architecture at the academy of architecture in Amsterdam. Jan designed and built many buildings as an architect. He exhibid regularly his paintings successfully at various locations in the Netherlands.

Architecture more or less formed the basis in his paintings. The subjects were often realistic, but recreated with the imagination and humor of the artist and sometimes a message speaks out.

The well-known pillars are often in an impossible position… is it an optical illusion or does Jan wanted to mislead the viewer? Also pay attention to the details and meaning of the subjects in a painting. The longer you look at a painting, the more you discover.
