Benjamin Olatunji

Olatunji Benjamin Damilare is a Nigerian contemporary painter. He was born on March 26, 1997 in Lagos, Nigeria. He was trained as a painter at Yaba College of Technology Art School in Lagos before he started his exploration. He did general art and later painting as a major. Through constant practice, Olatunji's works have metamorphosed over the years. Olatunji is one of the artists of innate transcendentalism in this contemporary world. 

Among his contemporaries, Olatunji Benjamin stands out for his unique style of approach by bringing an unbeatable imagination to reality with his works influenced by other black contemporary artists. In his statement and quote, "my work is a weapon against anything that threatens the freedom of imagination and quotation; his art has an originating function in this process, giving plastic precision to inhibitions and aspirations that remain unrepresented and unexpressed. 

He is driven by his incessant energy to depict a reality with a tendency to individualization. His paintings are characterized by black figures, their identity and culture with an emphasis on highlighting the consciousness and capacity of man through the use of visual metaphor, symbolism and suspense to address social, political, psychological or cultural issues. He has participated in several exhibitions and his works are in private collections.
