Painter, graphic artist, writer, critic and an academic teacher.
In 1962 he graduated from the State High School of Visual Arts in Katowice. In 1964 he began studies at the Faculty of Graphic Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice, in the years 1965-1966 he also studied at the Faculty of Art History at the Jagiellonian University. He obtained a diploma from the poster in the studio of professor Tadeusz Grabowski and in the studio of graphic art of professor Andrzej Pietsch. He lectured at the Department of Art of the University of Silesia in Cieszyn.
His painting is kept in the convention of magical realism and surrealism; the author is inspired by mysticism, religion, fairy tales, fantasy, philosophy and esotericism. The artist also writes essays, engages in artistic and literary criticism, and publishes his texts in cultural and literary magazines.
Henryk Waniek's works were exhibited at collective exhibitions and over 100 individual exhibitions at home and abroad; they are in the collections of numerous museum institutions and private collections in Poland and in the world.
