Biography

Jumi Bae was born in 1964 in Dai-Jeun, South Korea. After studying literature at the Sorbonne, she discovered photography. She then left for New York where she graduated from Parsons School of Design. Finalist for the Lancôme Trophy for Photography in 1993 on the theme “Woman's body”, since 1993 she has participated in numerous exhibitions, both collective and individual, in Paris, Nançay, New York and in Korea. In 1997 she published "Busan, Open City", a photography book on South Korea's second city. In 2005, she produced an artist's book which brought together her series "Tree signs" and "Orées". She currently lives and works in Paris.
