Thinking about the relationship between body, speech and the experience of speaking, Jinyong Park uses the medium of painting to embody these ideas. Her most recent works are inspired by the phonetic qualities of words which are often influenced by personal experiences and the shifts of the human body as you try to pronounce them. She translates these senses into abstract geometric forms that appear as personal hieroglyphs, intertwining with her research into a variety of alphabets, letters, signs and symbols. The search into the linguistic and writing process is further underlined by the use of standard-sized paper as a medium, as it draws the writing process back to its roots.
