

Alfonso M. García Hernández (Santa Cruz de la Palma, August 21, 1961. Tenerife. Spain) is a Spanish sculptor, self-taught, from the group of sculptors from the Canary Islands, who uses mainly iron and steel in the development of his work. whose work is part of the abstract with marked symbolic and conceptual content. His first sculpture is recorded in 1984 and since then, he has forged sculptures in different formats and materials, such as bronze, wood, stainless steel and corten, and others. He has participated in 28 individual and 65 collective exhibitions, showing his sculptural proposal in several countries: Spain, France, Germany, Mexico, Italy, Costa Rica, Singapore. The work of Alfonso García is found in numerous museums and collections, among others: Art collection of the Institute of Hispanic Studies MACEW of Puerto de La Cruz, Ateneo de La Laguna, University of La Laguna Collection, Caja Canarias collection. In addition, he owns different sculptures in public spaces. Some of the most outstanding works are: "Swayanbhu". (1988) Puerto de la Cruz, "Eidolon". (1992) La Laguna, "La Nada" (1996) private collection, La Laguna, "Untitled". (2005) Puerto de la Cruz, "Molusco 2" (2014) Hospital Universitario de Canarias, "Columba junoniae" (2015) Santa Cruz de Tenerife, "Molusco 1". (2023) Los Realejos. He currently works in his Space and Alfonso García Art Workshop (ESTAAG) Canary Islands.
