Presentation

Of Basque and Navarrese origin, Ustárroz's parents, natives of Castejón, he and she of Hondarribía, went into exile in Barcelona in the middle of the Spanish civil war. Fleeing to France, they arrive in Barcelona, where the painter Paulino Ustárroz was born in 1952.He is artistically trained at the Massana School in Barcelona, where he specializes in painting and sculpture. He can be considered as an essayist for painting. He achieves for his paintings a great solidity in the matter. He unfolds with ease in dark colors, black, silver, ocher and gray, in a well-directed search for the natural colors of matter.Ustárroz's painting is in itself a rising value, whose merits lie in the marked personality of his work and in the singular perception of a living art, which narrates the reality of the human transformation of the environment.
