Ilyes Messaoudi

Ilyes Messaoudi is a Franco-Tunisian visual artist and designer born in 1990 in Tunis. He trained for two years at the Higher School of Sciences and Technologies of Design in Tunis (ESSTED) and now lives between France and Tunisia. Encouraged by his father, himself gifted at drawing and DIY, and encouraged by his mother to paint on all types of media, he grew up in a family context favorable to his artistic development and therefore began a career in 'artist. From the age of 10, he won several prizes in school competitions and his committed discourse recalls the societal taboos of his country. Women are a major inspiration in his works. According to him, they represent the key to a real revolution because always maintaining a very flexible mentality over time and constantly pushing their limits. In a subtle mix of genres associating painting, collage, embroidery and sometimes text, the artist humorously depicts the Tunisian woman of the 21st century, sometimes mischievous, sometimes embarrassed, with her modern hassles, her differences with men and the restrictions of contemporary society. .
