Through my ceramic animals, I celebrate the beauty of wildlife and remind us of its fragility—art can speak for those who cannot speak for themselves.

Biography

Margarita Faizulina (b. 1993) is a Dubai-based ceramic artist and art director whose practice merges animalistic sculpture, fashion aesthetics, and contemporary craft. Originally from Russia, she began her career as a set designer, collaborating with Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, and leading fashion and lifestyle brands. Her background in fashion design, supported by a Bachelor's degree from the Ural State Academy of Architecture and Arts, shaped her refined understanding of form, silhouette, and materiality — all of which remain central to her artistic language.

In 2020, Faizulina transitioned fully into ceramics, specializing in high-firing clay and paper clay to create expressive wildlife sculptures. Her works are distinguished by custom glazes and mixed-media elements — beads, cords, textiles, chains — echoing her experience in luxury styling and design. Through tactile surfaces and handcrafted detail, she explores the fragility, dignity, and emotional presence of animals.

Margarita is an active figure in the UAE's art scene. She has exhibited twice at the Sikka Art & Design Festival, participated in the Ras Al Khaimah International Art Festival, and became a finalist in the World Art Dubai Public Art Initiative. Her large outdoor ceramic installation is currently on view in the DIFC business district. In 2024 she held her first solo exhibition, Sculpting Wildlife, in Dubai.

Alongside her artistic practice, Faizulina teaches ceramics at the Al Jalila Cultural Centre, sharing her knowledge while developing new sculptural series inspired by the region's natural diversity and cultural heritage. Her works celebrate wildlife as both memory and symbol, urging viewers to appreciate the beauty of the present and the vulnerability of the natural world.
