Biography
Joel Clark is an English artist, born in Aylesbury in 1974. He graduated from St Martins in 1966 and began working in creative industries mainly advertising in London, Melbourne and Dublin. He entered the artistic universe as a Freelance journalist and creation director.
Vinyl is his only medium which materializes all his influences, mainly pop art. Through a sharp look and precise detail, his mix of colors are not only audacious but elegant as well. His work demands handmade complex methods combined with traditional techniques and modern materials. The whole thing leads to a hyper-realistic pop art where real objects (vehicle parts) become surrealistic. One needs some time to fully comprehend the work.
"I think that immobile vehicles turn into reflective sculptures which give a unique deformed vision on our daily environment, a view of the exterior world. Using vinyls was also used in my 2D collections", says the artist.
