Often referred to as the Godfather of British Pop Art, Sir Peter Blake was born in 1932 in Dartford, Kent. He attended the Royal Collage of Art and in 1961 was awarded the John Moores junior art award for his work Self Portrait with Badges.
Combining images of pop culture and fine art, Peter Blake's collages and paintings include imagery from advertisements, entertainment, wrestlers and the circus. Peter Blake became a Royal Academian in 1981, a CBE in 1983 and in 2002 Blake received a knighthood for his services to art.
