Presentation

Holly Stevenson lives and works in London and is currently a resident artist in the Ceramics Studio Co-op. In her earlier works, she explores the role of paper objects and magazines in the 21st life, a life post internet. More recently, Holly started working with ceramics through which she explores the double sided resilient and submissive experience of happiness as a promise, interpreting this so called la ‘promesse du bonheur’ as being something made visible in quixotic photographic processes and desirable totemic forms. In her latest sculptural ceramic project ‘Freud’s Ashtray’, informed by psychoanalysis, she explores how simple shapes carry meaning beyond their simple representation.
