Biography

Born in 1983, Noah Davis was an American painter and installation artist. He studied painting at the Cooper Union School of Art, although he did not finish his studies.

Davis' paintings are simultaneously figurative and abstract as he situates blurred figures into a moody, surreal landscape. Drawing inspiration from Marlene Dumas, Mark Rothko and Kerry James Marshall, Davis produces dramatic compositions.

Davis' work has been the subject of several solo shows, including posthumous retrospectives. Most recently, his work was exhibited in a suite at the 59th Venice Biennale. Davis died in August, 2015.
