Presentation
Once graduating from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, I moved out west. After over 30 years of living in Los Angeles and Las Vegas, working in the graphic design field, I have moved back to my home state of Ohio to finally settle and completely focus on my fine art. I am a contemporary mixed media artist. My abstract work is full of vibrant color and unusual textures. I love experimenting with unusual materials and mediums as well as incorporating the standards. My process involves applying many layers of color and texture to create an intricate and complex story.
I have pursued developing my fine art for many years along with years of working in many different art fields such as graphic design, screen printing, advertising and custom casino signage. All these various disciplines have helped develop my fine art skills as well. My inspiration comes from everything around me, especially nature.
The textural element of my work is important to me. I am very experimental and will create on anything and everything including paper, canvas, foam core, sintra, old wood, cloth and more. Everything is art material to me. I love it all but my first love is contemporary abstract mixed media painting.
You can find me working almost every day in my art studio, living my dream and pursuing my passion.
My art can be found in hotels, resorts and corporations in many countries and my fine art reproductions can be found in many upscale home decor stores all over the world.
I have exhibited and received many awards including many "Best of Shows" in local, national and international competitions. Some of my other awards include "Artist of the Year" from the San Pedro Art Association, "Mayor's Choice Award," and a "First Place" award from Santa Barbara National Juried Arts Invitational Exhibition which was selected from over 1,500 entries. I have been published in magazines, blogs and had a piece selected from over 40,000 entries for inclusion in Print magazine's 1989 Design Annual. I was then selected for inclusion in Print's hardbound book "The Best Of Silkscreen." I am a member of the American Watercolor Society, National Watercolor Society, and a signature member and 1997-98 President of the Nevada Watercolor Society.
I believe that one should never stop learning and always follow their passion. To this day, I am still learning new techniques and approaches to art from others and incorporating what I learn into my work.
