Biography
Reuben Negron was born in 1979 in Orlando, Florida. He has lived and worked in New York for fifteen years and most recently has been living and working in Asheville, North Carolina.
Reuben is a graduate of the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore (Bachelor of Fine Arts) and the prestigious School of Visual Arts in New York City (Master of Fine Arts).
Young contemporary American artist, he is known for the inenarable virtuosity of his figurative watercolors. Reuben's work explores the psychology of his subjects, focusing on identity, sexuality and personal storytelling as well as the transparency of materials, the quality of the flesh, the play of light and space. His watercolors have been exhibited across the United States, with recent exhibitions in New York, San Francisco and Miami. His work has often appeared in the press in magazines such as Vogue, Juxtapoz, Time Out New York, Poets Artists, Manifeste, DevoraRan or Playboy.
