Women in Art
From February 16, 2021 to April 17, 2021
Artist Regina Davis contemplates epic themes of eternal bliss versus the thorny injuries wrought by time and experience, through her work. The oil paintings are profoundly symbolic narratives of human nature and a testament to our existence in the presence of a larger spiritual reality – what we choose to believe and see or not see.
"I was raised in Mexico City caught between the confinements of mystical, ancient ritual beliefs and strict Catholicism, a life that has made me keenly aware of the dual aspects of life and death, dark vs. light, and consciousness vs. unconsciousness.
I translate my thoughts and feelings into visual ideas that focus on the human figure in communion with symbolic elements. And, although my work is largely autobiographical, I continuously research and investigate to answer enigmas of the psyche and elements that confide in my own and the collective consciousness." Regina Davis, Featured Artist of Art Gallery Inc
Largely self-taught she advanced studies at the Art League in Alexandria, VA, at the Art Students League of New York, The Water Street Atelier in New York, NY and the New York Academy of Art along with particular apprenticeships with various artists.
" I have won several Juried Art Competitions, including being a finalist in the ARC Art Renewal Center in the Magic Realism category. My work has been published in several magazines as well as news papers, books and online articles and is owned by private collectors around the world including the Garcia Carrillo Museum private collection in Mexico." - Regina Davis
