Description
Six dishes "Spikes Series" is an original porcelain set realized by Piero Fornasetti (Milan, 1913-1988) in the 1960s. Original silk-screened porcelain. Marked on the base.
Gorgeous set of six small square plates made by the Italian designer Piero Fornasetti in the 1960s. Each dish depicts several spikes of wheat; each spike belongs to a particular type of wheat; the name of the spikes is shown in cursive letters near each figure.
Piero Fornasetti (Milan, 1913-1988). Fornasetti was an Italian versatile and eclectic artistic, characterised by an unstoppable creative flair that made him one of the most prolific figures of the 20th century, and difficult to ascribe to a specific movement. Although Piero Fornasetti's works are produced as individual pieces, he was an important figure in Italian Industrial culture, to such an extent that his name is now better known on the international design scene than in any other fields. Fornasetti was, however, an artist actively involved in a variety of aesthetic disciplines, including painting, drawing and product design.

Presentation
Born in 1913 and died in 1988, Piero Fornasetti is an Italian painter, designer, sculptor and interior decorator.
In 1930, Piero Fornasetti studied at the Fine Arts academy in Brera, but he was fired in 1932 for being disobedient.
This accident didn't prevent him from presenting his first printed scarves in 1933 at the Milan Triennial. Some years later, he met Gio Ponti, an architect and designer with whom he collaborated for years.
Early 1940's, Piero Fornasetti moved to Switzerland but came back to Milan in 1946. In 1970, he became co-founder of Galleria dei Bibliofili.
