Description
This artwork is an audacious and vibrant expression emphasizing the raw energy of line work. Executed with a bold color palette dominated by vivid pinks and purples, the piece captures the viewer's attention through its restless and dynamic composition. The central element appears to be a pot or container, meticulously outlined with intense, frenzied strokes that suggest both movement and intensity. The upper portion explodes into a riot of upward-reaching lines, potentially reminiscent of abstract foliage or an outburst of creative vigor. This electric array of lines creates an impression of continual growth and expansion, as if the contained energy is perpetually seeking to break free. A defining feature within the composition is a central diamond shape, distinctly set against the backdrop of frenetic line work, drawing the eye to its more structured form amid the chaos. This juxtaposition of geometric precision against the otherwise unrestrained strokes adds a layer of complexity and intrigue to the piece. The artwork's use of color is strategic and dramatic, with the interplay between pink and purple lines creating depth and texture. The intentional layering of these hues provides a sense of dimensionality and enhances the vibrancy of the piece. Overall, the artwork stands as an assertive testament to the power of line and color, encapsulating a sense of urgency and uncontained creativity. Its unique, almost frantic energy invites viewers to explore the emotional and visual stimuli encapsulated within its dynamic form, making it an unforgettable visual experience.
Presentation
My name is Michael R. Grine and I am an process oriented artist. I use a combination of found objects, acrylic paints, and aerosol paints to create abstract patterns on wood and canvas.
Statement
Curiosity. Emotion. Experimentation. Exploration. Leap of faith. Pursuit of knowledge. These words only begin to describe what my art signifies or represents. I was born an artist and have always identified myself as an artist. I possess an insatiable creative drive to make art out of the images I see in my mind. To help satisfy this impulse, I am always exploring new places and trying new things. Having freedom of expression and not being limited to one style or technique of making art are paramount to my identity as an artist. I love the many different processes of making art and experimenting with new ways of creating art.
My inspiration stems from color, music, literature, and the excitement about the unknown possibilities of taking everyday objects and using them in a way that differs from what the manufacturer intended. I use a combination of found objects, acrylic paints, and aerosol paints to create abstract patterns on wood and canvas. Some of my methods include combining different chemicals and paint on paper or in plastic or wood box frames to distort vivid colors that are mixed or thrown right on the canvas. The result is the distortion of lines and contours, and layers of translucent or opaque paints on the canvas or in random patterns.
