The Oil painting on Cardboard titled “The sea gently caresses the buildings" captures a striking scene where architecture and nature coexist in lyrical harmony. The vertical sweep of the tall bell tower, capped with a golden dome glinting in the daylight, creates a dialogue with the vertical sails of the boats docked nearby. This parallelism between man-made forms and natural forces gives the painting a sense of continuity, as if the buildings themselves were grown out of the sea, sculpted not only by human hands but by centuries of wind, salt, and tide. The water dominates the lower half of the composition, painted in rich, layered tones of deep cobalt, turquoise, and teal. Reflections ripple across its surface, catching the reds, oranges, and golds of the sails and rooftops, creating a fractured mirror where solidity dissolves into liquid shimmer. These reflections are handled with loose, confident brushstrokes, suggesting constant motion and the delicate caress of the sea against the walls and moorings. Boats float close to the quay, their forms slightly blurred into their reflections, reinforcing the theme of water's intimate embrace of the land. The buildings themselves are rendered with both strength and delicacy. The artist captures the fleeting drama of weather over the sea—part storm, part sunlight breaking through. This creates a tension between tranquility and drama, a balance that echoes the calm yet unpredictable nature of the sea itself. The sails in the background, painted in luminous whites and creams, stand against the darker horizon, evoking a sense of movement, trade, and human connection that has always been tied to such coastal towns.

Zhitomir artist Suprunchuk Yuri Sergeevich Born on April 11, 1961, in the city of Zhitomir. Graduated from the Zheleznogorsk Art School, Russia (1982). Teachers in the specialty: V. Chukuev, E. Nikulin. Painter. Member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine (2002). Major works: "Near the house" (2005), "Winter on the outskirts of Zhitomir" (2006), "Autumn still life" (2004). Lived and worked in the city of Zhitomir.
