The Oil painting on Cardboard titled “City in the reflection of water" captures the essence of an old European cityscape, where architecture and waterways intertwine to create an atmosphere of timeless beauty. The viewer's gaze is immediately drawn to the towering structures with their terracotta-red roofs, intricate windows, and decorative spires that rise against a clear blue sky. These architectural forms, painted with expressive yet controlled brushstrokes, embody both grandeur and intimacy, evoking the feeling of walking through a city steeped in history and tradition. The vertical emphasis of the buildings suggests ambition and aspiration, while their warm tones radiate comfort and familiarity. The arched stone bridge in the foreground serves as both a literal and symbolic link within the composition. Its soft curvature contrasts with the sharp angles of the surrounding architecture, creating a sense of balance. Beneath the bridge, the canal flows with an almost mirror-like quality, reflecting the shapes and colors of the buildings above. These reflections are not precise replicas but impressionistic suggestions, distorted by the ripples of the water. The play of light on the canal transforms it into a shimmering tapestry of greens, blues, and purples, adding depth and a sense of movement to the otherwise still cityscape. Small boats rest quietly on the water, their presence hinting at the rhythms of daily life in a place where canals are thoroughfares as vital as streets. These vessels, painted with swift, energetic strokes, anchor the scene in the realm of human activity, suggesting trade, travel, or leisure. They remind the viewer that the city, for all its architectural majesty, is also a place lived in by ordinary people whose lives unfold against this magnificent backdrop. The painting's use of color is both harmonious and dramatic. The vivid reds of the roofs contrast with the soft pastels of the facades, while the deep greens of the foliage on the right bring nature into dialogue with stone and water. The sky, rendered in cool blues with subtle variations, frames the city and enhances the verticality of the towers, making them appear even more striking. Every hue is chosen not merely to describe reality but to evoke emotion—the warmth of home, the dignity of tradition, and the vibrancy of communal life.
