Description
"FRÁGIL" is an evocative mixed-media artwork from the artist's series exploring the dual nature of romantic love and human vulnerability. Utilizing an exquisite contrast of textures, the piece features the word "FRÁGIL" (Fragile) stenciled over a vibrant layer of gold leaf against a rich crimson acrylic background. Notably, the use of scotch tape is a deliberate, conceptual nod to the materials used to pack and protect art for transport. By integrating the tape—a tool designed to safeguard valuable objects—the artwork references its own physical vulnerability while metaphorically shielding the delicate nature of romantic attachment. A captivating, self-referential piece that challenges the viewer to contemplate how something as luminous as love can simultaneously carry an inherent, fragile risk.
Presentation
Ezequiel Martínez Llaser is an artist with an extensive international career. His works are included in various private collections across Europe. Born in Argentina in 1981, he lives and works between Paris and Barcelona.
He studied art and philosophy at the University of Buenos Aires and Paris VIII, and has completed several workshops and artist residencies with prominent figures in today's contemporary art scene. Coming from a family of photographers, he grew increasingly drawn to the visual arts as a medium to express his philosophical inquiries.
His work—primarily large-scale surrealist oil paintings—is a deconstruction of reality and the dominant values of modern society. His latest series, “Fragmentation et Totalité," questions Western rationalism through vitalist philosophical concepts (Nietzsche and Bergson), drawing influence from painters such as Dalí and Goya.
He has held major exhibitions in Buenos Aires, Rome, Barcelona, Madrid, and Paris. In 2019, he participated in the Florence Biennale. Since 2022, his work has been on display at the Museum of Modern Art in Barcelona, and in recent years, his pieces have been selected for exhibitions throughout Europe.
