Description
This urban landscape revisits classic photography with a contemporary audacity. The artist superimposes street art codes onto an urban scene in black and white. The contrast is immediate. The facades come alive under colorful graffiti and stylized lettering.
The work precisely mixes acrylic, pigment ink, and Posca markers on canvas. This superposition creates a dialogue between the frozen past and the current energy of the street. A little girl in the foreground draws the eye with her pink cap and matching satchel.
Imagination enters this setting with the appearance of a flying saucer in the gray sky. This subversive touch transforms the architectural view into a playful composition. The Fluxus movement influences this approach where the deconstruction of reality becomes a visual game.
The whole plays on the saturation of hues to energize the composition. The graphic details integrate with the lines of the Lyon buildings. The scene ends with the silhouette of a skateboarder gliding on the pavement.
Presentation
Maxime Blachère is an atypical artist from Savoy, now living near Lyon and present in 25 countries and several art galleries in Europe and the US. Maxime Blachère's universe is filled with humor and saturated colors.
Self-taught and versatile, his sources of inspiration are multiple. Comics, pop culture, photography and of course Street-art.In phase with the Fluxus movement, he uses and mixes the codes of the environments that inspires him and of the artists he meets to give free rein to his imagination and deliver offbeat works, sometimes naive, sometimes subversive, like his series of works "Vandal is color" where Maxime takes pleasure in virtually vandalizing urban landscapes around the world.
