Description

Heartbeat Elixirs: Love Infusions in Couture Capsules emerges as one of the most sensitive and rhythm-driven works within by Tomomi Mishima.
The composition immerses the viewer in a dense field of deep blue capsules, treated as a pulsating pictorial matter—almost organic—evoking the steady, regulated beat of a heart.

Within this pharmaceutical environment, small circular symbols appear, painted as glowing neon signs. Scattered across the surface, they function as visual impulses—beats of light that structure the canvas like a silent rhythm. Once a utopian emblem, the symbol becomes here a coded emotional language, repeated, calibrated, and subtly medicalized.

The young Japanese women depicted—drawn from the visual memory of school uniforms—have replaced institutional attire with ultra-luxurious silhouettes inspired by high fashion. They embody a contemporary generation facing intense emotional and social pressure, where feeling must be controlled, balanced, and often internalized.

The capsules suggest a world in which love is no longer only experienced, but administered—measured, regulated, transformed into an elixir. The neon signs, far from naïve slogans, read as artificial heartbeats: attempts to stabilize emotion within a hyper-normative society.

The tension between the clinical repetition of pills and the gentle glow of neon creates a powerful contrast between chemistry and sentiment, control and surrender, norm and desire. Mishima does not moralize; she observes with quiet precision.

As a major member of the CrazyNoodles studio, founded by Hiro Ando, Tomomi Mishima develops an introspective voice within Japanese Neo-Pop.
With , she composes a visual score in which love becomes rhythm, light, and substance—an emotional infusion suspended between biology, pop culture, and contemporary poetry.

Presentation

Tomomi Mishima, was born in 1989. She is a Japanese painter.

Her works deals with the evolution of the Japanese society, she pays special attention to the role of women. Her paintings depict young Japanese women with a trendy look, the artist considers them to illustrate a virtual role. The increasing influence of the Western culture is perceptible, due to the changes which occur in the Japanese society. These tend to affect the youngsters who lose their bearings between traditional education and attractive modern propaganda. The latter imposes the tacit obligation of being trendy in the contemporary world. An artist language which goes beyond borders but is familiar to everyone.

Tomomi Mishima's meaningful work has seduced several galleries around the world. She is mainly known for her exhibitions in Israel, France, USA, Spain, Mexico, China and Singapore.
