Within Depth, 2019

Sami Alkour

Sami Alkour explores the fluidity of nature through a sophisticated lens. This mixed media painting captures a visceral sense of immersion. The composition relies on a powerful palette of cerulean and deep indigo. Bold brushstrokes create a rhythmic movement across the canvas. Vertical drips of paint suggest rain or melting ice. These lines break the horizon and add a raw, emotional energy.
The artist blends abstract expressionism with the essence of a landscape. He evokes the weight and silence of the ocean. Light blue washes contrast with dark, sweeping arcs. This interplay creates a feeling of immense space. The texture varies from transparent glazes to thick, opaque applications. Each layer adds a new dimension to the atmospheric depth. The artwork reflects a mastery of color theory and form. It transforms a static surface into a living, breathing environment. The visual narrative focuses on the tension between stability and flow. The scene remains open to interpretation, inviting a meditative gaze. The piece concludes with a delicate balance of light and shadow.
