Description
"Disconnect" by Irish artist Glori Galon is a captivating acrylic painting on canvas measuring 30 x 23 cm. The artwork features a girl in a dress, absorbed in her phone, her face partially obscured by her hair, and a pink bunny turban. The background showcases a vibrant mix of designs and colors, adding depth and energy to the piece. Notably, a crow with a cable telephone in its mouth introduces a surreal element, symbolizing themes of communication and disconnection. This intriguing juxtaposition invites viewers to reflect on the complexities of modern connectivity.
Presentation
Irish Glori Galon is a Boholana artist now making waves in the local art scene. A would-be architect, she chose to set aside her lucrative career in favor of her art.
Irish has won the Grand Prize in PVAF, an honorable mention on AAP’s On-the-Spot competition, and is a three-time Metrobank Art & Design Excellence (MADE) finalist.
Irish continues to wow audiences with her surreal yet melancholic pieces that are an extension of her memory, the narrative of her past experiences, her hopes for the future, and the pulsations of her heart and soul.
