Description
Portrait closeup Elvis
Technique: Oil, acrylic and ink on canvas
This portrait reimagines an iconic figure through a vibrant, contemporary lens, blending realism with expressive abstraction. The subject’s defining features, slicked hair, piercing eyes, strong cheekbones, and firm lips are instantly recognizable, yet transformed by the artist’s bold use of color. Explosive splashes of orange, turquoise, yellow, and red energize the face, contrasting sharply with the deep blacks of the clothing and background.
The eyes serve as the anchor of the work. Painted with striking clarity, they cut through the chaos of color, drawing the viewer in with intensity and charisma. Around them, the dynamic play of drips and splatters suggests movement, rhythm, and vitality, echoing the spirit of performance and the electrifying presence the subject embodied.
The neutral background enhances the luminosity of the colors, while the dark shirt, peppered with bursts of pigment, grounds the composition. Stylistically, the painting recalls both Pop Art and contemporary street art, merging classical portraiture with modern expressive techniques.
More than a likeness, the piece conveys energy, rebellion, and enduring influence. It captures not only the subject’s appearance but also the aura of legend, an image alive with charisma, timeless presence, and cultural impact.

Bazévian Delacapucinière is a French artist whose works have appeared in numerous exhibitions and publications in Europe, America and Asia.
My work focuses on oxidized images from the collective memory of the 20th century. According to Aristotle, from memory to reminiscence, it is necessary to reactivate images through the imagination to know their sensitive power. Consequently, the gaze (of portraits) becomes power, texture becomes light. Finally, this transposition of images becomes my individual memory.
Presentation
Bazévian Delacapucinière is a French artist whose works have appeared in numerous exhibitions and publications in Europe, and also in America or in Asia.
Bazévian focuses on portraits of women, men and children. Face is central in Bazévian's work. As a social vector, it brings an emotional dimension through the gaze. On the other hand, Bazévian also unpacks consumerist images that saturates society by creating female faces with vivid colors. Finally, Bazévian also paints iconic portraits of women and men that have marked the history of mankind.
