Description
Vibrant energy defines this 2022 composition. Intense hues of cobalt blue and magenta clash and harmonize across the canvas. The artist employs a rich blend of oil and acrylic to build depth. Mixed media elements add a tangible dimension to the surface. Geometric shapes emerge from the fluid brushstrokes. Rectangular portals suggest architectural spaces or internal memories. Bold red outlines create a rhythmic structure. They guide the eye through a labyrinth of saturated tones. Light catches the thick application of paint. This creates a sculptural effect typical of the artist's multidisciplinary approach. The tension between structured form and spontaneous gesture drives the visual narrative. Cool blues balance the heat of the pinks and reds. Every stroke feels deliberate yet raw. It is a study of contrast and emotional intensity. The artwork transforms a flat plane into a multilayered sensory experience. White highlights pierce through the darker fields. They evoke a sense of luminescence from within the frame. The composition remains anchored by an earthy base of deep blue and crimson lines.
Presentation
Nataliia Krykun, born in 1988, is a Ukrainian ultra-contemporary multidisciplinary artist based in Austria.
Working primarily with monochrome colors and gold leafing, she creates sculptural paintings and minimalist forms that explore depth, texture, and contrast. Her use of monochromatic surfaces, structured reliefs, and carefully chosen materials transforms simplicity into a powerful visual and tactile experience.
Her works are celebrated for conveying universal themes of humanity, identity, and cultural resilience.
Krykun's artwork invites contemplation and stillness, balancing elegance with raw materiality. Her refined aesthetic opens a quiet dialogue between shadow and light, surface and space.
Krykun has participated in numerous international exhibitions and art fairs worldwide. A highlight was the exhibition of her works at the VOLTA Basel and Art Basel Week in Miami, and she is a participant at the Pavilion of Ukraine at the 58th La Biennale di Venezia- “The Shadow of a Dream Cast Upon Giardini Della Biennale".
Her works have also been showcased at Art Fair Vilnius 2023 and in Austria's Krems Museum, within the historic Dominican Church.
She continues her education at the University of Arts Linz, Austria.
