Description
The painting is part of the Timeless series. The artist has captured a scene that is both evocative and enigmatic, mixing elements of reality and imagination. In the foreground, a woman sits in the grass, surrounded by peaceful countryside. However, the scene is disrupted by the unexpected presence of the Volgograd Cathedral, a building which seems displaced from its usual urban context to find itself erected in the middle of nature.
The fire-colored atmosphere suggests an emotional intensity and a certain tension in the scene. This warm color palette can evoke feelings of passion, nostalgia, or even danger. The presence of a burned tree reinforces this atmosphere, adding a dimension of destruction or chaos.
Everything is highly subjective, no doubt this woman's vision is colored by past events in Volgograd, perhaps even by the famous Battle of Stalingrad. The cathedral, often associated with faith and spirituality, could represent a symbol of resilience or reconstruction after times of conflict and destruction. The presence of this building in the middle of the tranquil countryside could be a visual metaphor for how memories and scars from the past can intertwine with our present perception of the world.
In short, this painting seems to offer a visual meditation on collective memory, the impact of the past on the present, and the way in which individual experiences can be shaped by significant historical events.
Presentation
“Coming from an art school that forged its loyalty to academic values, Jacques Guillet, with five decades of pictorial experience, draws his inspiration from the varied hues of his palette. The years spent in Provence imbue his works with a captivating light.
Originally from Vendée, passionate about architecture and lover of the sea, he breathes a realistic and authentic presence into these themes in his paintings, while transcending the colorful reality. At times, he frees himself from this temporal rigor, while preserving his favorite subjects. He places them with elegance and simplicity on the canvas, abandoning the faithful representation for a refined interpretation.
Freed from accuracy when it becomes time-consuming, he remains faithful to his favorite themes. His creations not only depict existing landscapes and monuments, but also express a desire to escape, giving birth to Landscapes of Elsewhere, fruits of his imagination, imbued with a revealing minimalism. An unsuspected source of pleasure for the artist. »
Gabrielle GERMAIN
"I trace my path in continuity. Over the years, even decades, I discover and re-define my artistic path. Evolving is not denying the past, it is moving forward with confidence, improving, and daring to simplify because mastery of complexity is acquired."
Jacques Guillet
