I Ketut Agus Murdika

Born in 1989 in Gianyar, Bali, I Ketut Agus Murdika began exhibiting his work in 2008 and has since developed a distinctive artistic language rooted in the nature, landscapes, and social life of his homeland.

He studied art at an Art Academy in Indonesia, where he further developed his technical and conceptual approach to painting. His practice is characterised by a form of abstract expressionism in which the colours, textures, rhythms, and organic forms of the Balinese landscape are transformed into dynamic and evocative compositions. Rather than simply depicting nature, Murdika seeks to convey its atmosphere, energy, and emotional presence, creating works that move between the recognisable and the abstract.

At the age of 30, he established his own artistic space, creating an environment dedicated to the development and presentation of his work. Alongside his own practice, he has exhibited extensively in Indonesia and internationally, including presentations in Jakarta, Spain, and France.

For the past four years, Murdika has been collaborating with Tobian Art Gallery, through which his work has been presented to an international audience. His paintings are now held in private and institutional collections around the world, reflecting the growing international recognition of his distinctive interpretation of Balinese nature and landscape.

His work continues to explore the profound relationship between the individual, the natural environment, and the cultural landscape of Bali, translating the visual and emotional richness of his land into an expressive and contemporary pictorial language.
