Description
In this evocative painting, the artist skillfully portrays a pensive figure, strikingly highlighted by a rich interplay of colors and dynamic brushstrokes. The central figure, a contemplative woman, is captured in a seated position, her body language suggesting introspection. Her form is rendered with a delicate blend of soft pastels and more vivid tones, seamlessly merging pinks, blues, and greens, which convey both the warmth and coolness of her environment and internal state. The background is abstract, composed of bold, layered patches of color that enhance the mood of the painting without distracting from the subject. The artist's application of a mix of loose, almost impressionistic brushstrokes, alongside more precise, deliberate lines, creates a sense of movement and fluidity. This technique not only adds depth but also imbues the figure with a palpable, lifelike quality. Notable is the effective use of contrast, especially in the lighting on her skin, which juxtaposes the cooler hues against warmer tones, emphasizing the contours and shape of her body with a subtle yet striking effect. The drips of paint cascading down, particularly visible on the right side, introduce an element of spontaneity and raw emotion, suggesting a glimpse into the subject’s vulnerability and the artist’s unfiltered expression. Overall, this painting stands out for its emotive power, use of color as a narrative device, and the harmonious blend of abstract and representational elements. It invites viewers into a moment of solitude and contemplation, offering a compelling exploration of human emotion through the medium of paint.
Presentation
Kateryna Ocheredko is a virtuoso artist from Poland whose art is filled with vibrant colors and graphic expressiveness.
I have been a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine since 2012.
I work with various media, including linocut, silk screen printing, etching, acrylics, and oil paints.
Additionally, I create digital illustrations, paint animations, and mosaic compositions.
Depending on the idea, I select the technique and materials for a more expressive realization.
Since 2011, I have presented 9 solo exhibitions.
In 2021, I was honored to receive the "Silver Key" award from the Cyprus Museum of Modern Art. I have served as a painting supervisor and animator on the film "The Peasants," Poland's nominee for the Oscars in 2023. As a painter-animator, I contributed to the creation of the first feature-length animation film, "Loving Vincent," painted with oil, which was nominated for the Oscars and the Golden Globe in 2018.“
When I am working with the theme of corporeality, I work with live models and their emotions.
The sensations generated by the interaction between the artist and the model are conveyed through color and shapes.
