Almo

From The Prussian Blue Series

Acrylic paint on 450 g paper

----------------------------

Almo wonders about his identity, the countries he has lived in, his daily routine and how he creates himself. An outsider who has made the world his home, skin, and citizenship, and through his artwork, he safeguards it in an attempt to explore the mysteries that pass through. Whether they are symbols, dreams or marks of the life of each of us. The artist´s work often features heads, floating bodies, trees, dollar signs, cars, laurel branches, and symbolic elements that denounce the cruelties of our borders. Almo executes his drawings intuitively in these acrylic paintings, aiming for a state of ´semi-trance´ as he himself defines his process. Almo, Jorge Alberto Morillo Doria, was born in Honduras, spent his childhood in the Phillippines, moved to Italy for his Univesity studies, and now resides in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

This artwork is a striking geometric composition that commands attention with its intricate interlocking pattern. Comprising bold blue lines on a stark white background, the design features a series of symmetrically arranged loops, merging both vertical and horizontal elements seamlessly. The repeated, precise curvature and alignment create a mesmerizing labyrinth-like structure, reminiscent of both ancient motifs and modern abstract art. The bold use of blue, varying in depth and intensity, adds a dynamic quality, while the white spaces provide balance and clarity. This piece exemplifies a harmonious synergy of simplicity and complexity, engaging viewers in an exploration of form and rhythm. The repetitive yet evolving patterns evoke a sense of endless continuity, inviting contemplation and intrigue.
